Uisge Labhair

Challengers beside Uisge Labhair in the morning (Lee doing his washing up!)
After a night of heavy rain the day started bright and showery the river being markedly higher than the night before as I headed up the hill to the Anoach Beag ridge. The view back to Corrour and Loch Ossian made me realise that this has to be one of the most perfect settings in the highlands for a private lodge.

Loch Ossian
The traverse of the ridge was a delight with good conditions underfoot and excellent visibility through the clouds and enough snow left to put the icing on the spectacular views although the summit of Ben Alder remained hidden.

A few rain showers came through and I sighted my first ptarmigan of the walk.

As I descended to Loch Pattack I thought that maybe I could continue the ridge walk by going over The Fara but the knees were starting to tell me they had enough climbing for today and before Lee Wells caught up with me above Ben Alder Lodge I had decided to take the lochside track. I met Lee at Dalwhinnie last year and it was good to have a companion to discuss life, the universe and everything with on the long walk beside the Loch.

I had a food parcel to collect at the Inn at Loch Ericht and when we arrived there I found not only more Challengers but good Guinness, good food and a bed so the plan to carry on to Loch Cuaich was rapidly changed and I remained there for the night.
