Woke late this morning, must have been the darkness of the bothy, still pouring with rain when a couple and son arrived, dripping, as I was packing to go.They had a nice dry room booked in the Rannoch Hotel and were looking forward to it already!

| I took the eastern path down the glen and found it no better than the other but the rain stopped soon after leaving making the walk to Loch Treig very pleasant. | ![]() |

The new access track from the Loch to Corrour made this section of the walk easy but it has lost some of its interest. The weather was deteriorating as I passed the beautifully situated Youth Hostel and I was debating a low level route as the squalls came through.

| Throwing caution to the wind- it soon whisked it away-I headed for the hills. | ![]() |

| Two wind and rain blasted Munros later I cowered behind a peat bank as a squall blasted overhead, I had planned a high camp here but, as I could hardly stand up, it was time to consider the options. Through a break in the clouds I caught a glimpse of the mass of peat hags, bogs and lochans east and below me, no way through that lot! I struggled on over Meall na Meiog, the weather at this point being wind and rain with rainsqualls; I only saw the shore of Lochan Meoigeach with waves crashing and spume vanishing into the mist before fighting my way to the summit. |

I wasn't sorry to escape down the steep East Ridge into the lee of the mountain and eventually emerged from the cloud to see the way ahead, wet, mildly haggy but ok, to Cam Chriochan and Loch Ericht.

| I found a nice grassy spot to pitch by the river but not much shelter from the squalls; at times it felt like going through a car wash. | ![]() |
