A lovely morning started with a very loud dawn chorus (3.30am!) but I went back to sleep and left at a reasonable time for the easy, but all on road, walk to Montrose.

| Kinnaird Park was very nice to walk through, had to climb over a locked gate to get in, but I didn't go near the castle. | ![]() |

| Past The Lurgies (I didn't see a dreaded one) and then a good footpath beside the main road. Coming into Montrose from this direction with the sun shining and the tide filling the basin gives a much better impression than the normal view of rain and mud from the railway station. | ![]() |

| The walk out to Scurdie Ness, with it's Challenge memorial cairn, was well worth the effort even though I had to retrace my steps back to the town before getting to the Park Hotel to sign in and meet other Challengers and Roger, Ann and Alvar who were manning the control center. | ![]() |

There were still a few Aktos in the campsite although a lot had gone home after last nights dinner and the afternoon was spent relaxing, after I located some gas at The Hardware Store, before meeting for dinner at the Park. A good evening, very different to the big gathering of the Thursday night, interesting conversations with an international group of Challengers including Rolf who I had been corresponding with before this, his first, Challenge rounded off this section of the walk..
